In January of 2018, I took my kids to visit the Ice Castles in Edmonton. The line was long for the ice throne with all it's "winter is coming" Game of Thrones vibes and I was excited to photograph my kids on it. When we were close to the front, I looked over to see a fellow on his knee proposing to his girlfriend. I quickly snapped a few pictures of the sweet scene. Not wanted to leave the line and disappoint my kids who really wanted to sit upon the ice throne I uploaded the images to Facebook the next morning in hopes of finding the couple. Within a couple of hours nearly 200,000 people had viewed my post and I was able to find the couple: Bethany and Zach. Not long after, I was contacted by Rod Kurtz of the CBC Radio One "Radio Active" program. He wanted to interview me and the couple live on the air. It was a fun experience! You can read the news article here. One of the comments I made in the live radio interview was that I was keen to photograph them again, on their terms. So, I offered them a complementary engagement session and our schedules coordinated in April of 2018 for a session in Jasper. Those images are below. Bethany and Zach eloped in Italy shortly thereafter! The weather really began to turn, which resulted in the dark, stormy, moody AF images below.
