Every year, I try to take some pictures of the children on their birthdays. Some kids are more willing participants than others. The pictures below are of my middle child, Parks. He really doesn't do well in the cold and the day we took these was particularly cold. He was also really not keen on pictures this day and didn't really want to smile. Additionally, the sun was setting fast and I had only 10 minutes to get some good pictures. All these factors would make most parents cringe. I often have parents ask me, "what if why child won't cooperate?". Or tell me, "my kid doesn't like pictures, so good luck". Well let me tell you something: photographers kids hate pictures more than any other kids I have met.
So what is the point of me telling you all this? The point is, I will get amazing pictures of your kids, even if I just have a few minutes and even if they are not super cooperative. Don't worry! It is my job to make them comfortable and capture their natural beauty. Let the pictures below stand as proof. There we plenty of grouchy-faced images from that ten minutes. But, I will always find a way to catch a smile, a laugh or a natural expression. I am considering doing series of children sunset sessions in the new year. Comment below if you would be interested in a session for your kids!
